Roger Federer starts his campaign in Basel with a convincing win over Frances Tiafoe in the first round.
The match
Roger had an outstanding start of the match after he grabbed a 4-0 lead in no time. Eventually, the Swiss won the opener after he broke Tiafoe for the 3rd time in the 7th game (6-1). The second set was much more even with Federer breaking Tiafoe “only” once in the 8th game before winning the contest 6-1 6-3 in just 61 minutes.
Next vs. Paire
Federer will face Benoit Paire in the 2nd round after he Frenchman defeated Steve Johnson 6-3 7-6 (4) in the 1st round. The head to head is 4-0 for the Swiss (9-0 in terms of sets).
