Kyrgios, Goffin, Shapovalov to star in Antwerp

Antwerp, Belgium. Nick Kyrgios, David Goffin, and Denis Shapovalov are the big names in of the ATP500 that will be played in Antwerp.

Seeded no.1, David Goffin has considerable chances to qualify for the World Tour finals as he is ranked no.8  in the year to date rankings, but he needs to have a strong run in the next few weeks to consolidate his position.

Nick Kyrgios is ranked no.15 in the year to date rankings, but 3 players above him will not play the finals (Djokovic, Murray and Wawrinka). The Australian needs to have a triumphal run in the next few weeks if he wants to have a chance to qualify for the season finale. He has to win or go very deep in Belgium to achieve that.

Denis Shapovalov doesn’t have any chances to qualify for the World Tour Finals, but he is extremely focussed on improving his rankings. He has recently broken in the top50, and next year he should get at least in the top20.

The top seeds in Antwerp are Goffin, Tsonga, Kyrgios, Schwartzman, Ferrer, Cuevas, Paire and Dolgopolov.

Projected quarters

Goffin – Cuevas
Schwartzman/Shapovalov – Ferrer
Kyrgios – Paire
Dolgopolov – Tsonga

The defending champion is Richard Gasquet that has decided not to play in this event.
