Melbourne, Australia – The Australian Open is set to kick off with a bang as some of the world’s top tennis players, including Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Qinwen Zheng, Alex de Minaur, and Alexei Popyrin, will participate in a series of charity matches from Tuesday, 7 January to Friday, 10 January. These matches are part of the Australian Open Opening Week and aim to raise funds for children’s charities through the Australian Tennis Foundation.
The event will feature a unique tie-break event on Tuesday, 7 January at Rod Laver Arena, where local community and club players will have the opportunity to take on the tennis greats. The highlight of the week will be “A Night with Novak and Friends” on Thursday, 9 January, where 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic will be joined by fellow stars such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Aryna Sabalenka, and Maria Sakkari.
Proceeds from the matches will support a range of children’s charities, providing opportunities for disadvantaged kids to play and belong. The event promises to be a fun and entertaining way for fans to get up close to their favorite players while contributing to a worthy cause.
Tuesday, 7 January: Red Bull Bassline with a live DJ and unique tie-break event.
Wednesday, 8 January: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Alex de Minaur.
Thursday, 9 January: “A Night with Novak and Friends” featuring Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Aryna Sabalenka, and Maria Sakkari.
Friday, 10 January: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud.
