Padel PowerSouthbroom will officially open this weekend with a lavish party at Southbroom Golf Club. With a formal ribbon-cutting at 18:00 and a delicious wine and canape hour with speeches from prominent people, the event is sure to be a magnificent celebration.
At 19:30, the inaugural ‘Grudge Match’ between Southbroom Tennis Club captain Pete Nelson and Southbroom Golf Club captain Gary Purtell will begin the celebrations. Daniel Francesconi will join Pete, and Gary has a surprise weapon in store, so it should be an exciting show.
To ensure that kids and grandkids may join in on the excitement, a Padel Kids mini-tournament will be hosted for the younger fans from 18:00 to 19:30. Beginners and intermediates will play from 8:00 to noon on the next day, while advanced players will play from noon to 15:30. The competition is open to players of all ability levels. Top players will compete in an Expo Match from 15:30 to 17:00 to cap off the day.
The quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will take place on Sunday. Play will begin at 8:00 and end with prize distribution at approximately 15:00. This event is not to be missed because it represents a major turning point in the development of padel’s popularity in South Africa.
