Federer retires from Indian Wells

Bad news for Roger Federer’s fans as the Maestro decided not to compete in Indian Wells.

Roger had to undergo a knee operation soon after the Australian Open after he got injured when playing the semi against Novak Djokovic. Roger skipped Rotterdam and Dubai to have in mind to be back for Indian Wells (5th of March). Unfortunately, the Swiss Legend didn’t feel ready to play in the desert to postpone his comeback to add Monte-Carlo to his calendar. So King Roger will be back at the Principality (11th of April).

Why this is a good decision

This is probably the most sensible decision for 2 reasons. First,  Roger will have 5 more weeks to recover; second coming back on clay will put less stress on the knee.

Roger commented “As it is a long year, I don’t want to push it too hard and come back too soon.

Thus, I will unfortunately not be able to make it back in time for the great event in Indian Wells but I do plan on playing in the desert next year. After consultation with my team, I have decided to enter the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

The Rehab for my knee is going really well! I have now had a lot of great practices on the court and in the gym.”

GOOD DECISION?
