What a fortnight for Dominic Thiem!
The young Austrian has defeated 2 of the greatest clay courts players in history on their favorite surface. Last week Dominic edged the great Rafael Nadal in a rough 3 setter, yesterday Thiem dismissed Ferrer 6-3 6-2 in the Rio quarters.
They were ripping ground strokes but to finish the rally, Thiem and Ferrer find themselves at the net. https://t.co/vCtPmZ2AJf

The match against David lasted just 73 minutes. Dominic struggled just at the very beginning when he had to recover a 1-3 deficit. He did that in style after winning 5 consecutive games (6-3). The 2nd set was extremely smooth with Dominic conceding not even a break point.
Thiem
Dominic was the first one to be (happily) surprised with his performance “It was one of the best matches I’ve ever played, for sure. I’m unbelievably happy to be able to maintain my form from Buenos Aires here in Rio.”
The semis vs. Pella
Dominic will play the semi against Pella to probably reach his 2nd consecutive final. The top10 is on the way.
