After their 2024 United Cup victory over China, Novak Djokovic and his Serbian colleagues celebrated the start of a new year with fans at Perth, Australia’s RAC Arena.
The Serbian squad, which also consists of Dejana Radanovic, Olga Danilovic, Hamad Medjedovic, Nikola Cacic, and Natalija Stevanovic, joined the court’s countdown to midnight and celebrated by giving each other hugs.
Serbia played China in their opening United Cup encounter; the Chinese team included Zhizhen Zhang, Qinwen Zheng, Yunchaokete Bu, Xiaodi You, and Fajing Sun
The United Cup is a mixed-gender team tennis competition that kicks off the ATP and WTA tours in 2024. It is currently scheduled to take place in two locations in the Australian cities of Sydney and Perth from December 29, 2023, to January 7, 2024. Serbia’s top players in their first-ever United Cup as a nation are Djokovic and Danilovic.
In his singles match, Djokovic easily defeated Zhang in straight sets with a dominating effort. But Zheng defeated Danilovic in straight sets in their singles match. After Djokovic and Danilovic defeated Zhang and Zheng 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 in the mixed doubles round, Serbia was able to win and finish the tie.
