Novak Djokovic reaches the 3rd round in Madrid after an excellent performance against Taylor Fritz.
The Match
Novak Djokovic beats Taylor Fritz 6-4 6-2 in 64 minutes and advances to the third round of the Madrid Open. Novak did not seem to have any problems in the match and cruised to the victory in straight sets.
Fritz initially stayed solid on his own serve but was unable to put any sort of pressure on the World No.1. The Serbian broke Fritz’ serve in the 7th game, one of the longest in the match in which the Ameican survived four deuces. Djokovic never allowed the American to come back in the match after that. Djokovic raised his game several notches in the second set and barely lost a point on serve. Fritz found it increasingly tough to keep pace with the Serbian. The World no.1 broke Fritz’s serve in the third and fifth game in the 2nd set on his way to a comfortable victory in the end.
Djokovic is celebrating his 250th week as the world no.1 and with this win, he scored his 25th win in Madrid.
