Carlos Alcaraz And Cameron Norrie

For Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie, a rematch in the Rio Open final seems to be is imminent. On Friday, both players advanced to the semifinals of the clay-court competition in Rio de Janeiro, where they could replay the Spaniard’s victory in the Argentina Open final last weekend.

Dusan Lajovic was defeated by defending Rio Open defending champion Alcaraz, 6-4, 7-6. (0). Nicolas Jarry, who defeated Sebastian Baez 6-3, 7-6, will be his opponent. The Chilean has been attempting to regain his ranking since February of last year after receiving an 11-month doping suspension in 2020. His highest position was No. 38, but he is currently No. 139.

As in his first two matches in Brazil, the 19-year-old Alcaraz once again did not play his best tennis, but he still won. Throughout the Spaniard’s match against Lajovic, there were numerous unforced errors, issues with the first serve, and less energy than usual.
