Jack Draper will get his chance at the Australian Open the following week when he squares off against top seed Rafael Nadal in a captivating first-round match.
Little more than an hour had passed since the 21-year-old from Surrey defeated world No. 20 Karen Khachanov and advanced to the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Adelaide when his name was drawn to play the Spanish legend. There will be other notable draws involving British athletes next week, including Andy Murray’s match against Matteo Berrettini, a semifinalist at Wimbledon in 2021. Rafael Nadal and Jack Draper have never clashed against each other.

Currently ranked no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 2nd of January when he was overcome by world no.24 Alex De Minaur 3-6 6-1 7-5 in the round robin in Australia (draw).
This year Nadal has managed to achieve an overall 0-2 match record.
Nadal will compete next at the Australian Open (Australian Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 16th of January.
