Sharapova attacked by the UK parliament over Sugarpova!

An athlete should promote a healthy lifestyle, this is Keith Vaz’ theory. The MP has heavily criticized Sharapova over her well known candy line Sugarpova.

Maria has been already under fire in Australia (see article) for promoting this “unhealthy candy line” and some more shots arrive from UK.

The first attack came from Keith Vaz that said “All sportsmen and women are supposed to promote a healthy life style. A brand like Sugarpova encourages a large and excessive consumption of sugar”.

Then it was time for an academic to express his disdain as Tom Sanders, professor at London King’s College, commented “Athletes haven’t been allowed to endorse and promote cigarettes 30 years ago. It’s time to take action towards those who try to promote an unhealthy food consumption and therefore unhealthy life style”

Tough life at the top!
