3 REASONS WHY. Sascha Zverev parts ways with his coach David Ferrer

This are the reasons why David Ferrer decided not to coach anymore Sascha

Zverev Ferrer

Alexander Zverev keeps on having problems in finding “super-coaches.” The German sensation used to partner with former world no.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero and Ivan Lendl and things ended pretty badly with both of them. Eventually, Zverev decided to start a coaching relationship with David Ferrer last summer.

David and Sascha have great chemistry and it seemed as things could work pretty well between the 2. The German ace was extremely close to winning his first slam at the recent US Open where he failed to serve out the final. Later he won 2 back to back events in Cologne.

Why Ferrer decided not to coach Zverev

David eventually decided not to continue their collaboration. The Spanish legend said that there were 3 reasons why he preferred not to coach Sacha anymore: the Coronavirus pandemic, his role as tournament director in Barcelona, and his family.

“I had to decide by the end of the year; I spoke to Alexander and told him that I preferred not to continue working with him in 2021.

There wasn’t a particular reason or anything; I just thought the time wasn’t right. Everything is fine between us, and I’m grateful to Alexander for the opportunity he gave me to travel with him in the closing stages of the season.

We had a good run during those three months. It wasn’t easy for me to continue traveling with Alexander due to the coronavirus and the fact that I’m the Barcelona Open tournament director. There’s also my family, which I put above everything.

I’m not the right person to help Alexander at the moment. In the future, I will work as a coach again, that’s for sure.”

Sascha also released a lovely message for David saying:

I would like to thank David for the months we have shared, the times on and off the court, wishing him only the best in the future.

I also want to thank his family for giving me the chance to spend precious weeks with David during these difficult times.

I have tremendous respect for the way David played and coaches tennis.”

Zverev issues with his former girlfriends

However, Zverev has recently gone through many personal issues. Sascha will become a father this year as his former girlfriend Brenda Patea is pregnant with his baby.  Another former girlfriend, Olya Sharypova, accused him publicly of domestic violence.
