Bartoli beats Stephens to reach the semifinal in Wimbledon

Marion gets to the semifinals to surprise everybody.

After all the upsets we have experienced in Wimbledon we ere expecting Sloane Stephens to fill the gap, but once again a surprise came through as a very good Marion Bartoli reaches the final four.

The match wasn’t a great one with Marion blasting only 6 winners in the entire match (12 unforced error) and Slone committing 19 unforced errors (21 winners). The second set was quite strange (I would say a disaster) as Sloane Stephens lost the service 5 times and Marion Bartoli 4, but that was good enough for the Frenchwoman.

From Stephens

An upset Sloane commented “My serve let me down in the second set. I am disappointed with the way things went today but I am definitely moving forward, and reaching the quarter-finals is a good result. A lot of people didn’t make the quarter finals.”

Next vs Flipkens

Marion will play Kirsten Flipkens in the semifinal as the Belgian has defeated Petra Kvitova 4-6 6-3 6-4. This is the first time these two are playing each other.
