Zverev to face Rublev in blockbuster quarter

Sascha Zverev and Andrey Rublev will face each other in Beijing in a match that it is poised to be a classic in the years to come.

Even if Sasha and Andrey have clashed many times at juniors level, they played each other only once at ATP level. That was back in 2016 when the German won 6-1 6-3 in Monte Carlo.

Things could be quite different in China as the Russian is playing a very good tennis. In fact, Rublev has defeated Jack Sock (world no.21) and Tomas Berdych (no.21) after playing 2 quality matches. On the other side, Sascha had 2 routine wins in straight sets against Kyle Edmund (6-3 7-6) and Fabio Fognini (6-4 6-2).

What Sascha said about the match

Zverev commented

“It’s obviously going to be an entertaining NextGen match. It’s obviously great to see young guys coming through, but tomorrow’s a match against him, and I’m ready for it.”
