Uncle Toni to still follow Nadal on tour

Uncle Toni and Rafael Nadal will not partner after 2017. This is what it has been said for the last few months, but probably that statement has to be revised.

Rafa is currently in Beijing where he will compete in the ATP500, and in a recent interview, he talked about his coaching team. Nadal will be officially coached by his friend and mentor Carlos Moya, but Uncle Toni is not completely ruled out.

Why Uncle Toni will still be part of the team

Rafa commented

“Carlos brought some positive energy for me. Our way of practicing changed, we trained on some more specific aspects. When there is a new person, it’s also easier to listen because it’s different.

We will have a different setup.  We shouldn’t forget that Carlos has kids and can’t travel for many weeks and Francis (Francisco Roig), works, so he is not available all the time. But I am sure that if I need Toni for some time, he can come with me.”

The partnership is not over.
