Not much will change without Uncle Toni. MOYA

After such an incredible stint with his beloved nephew Rafa, Toni Nadal will leave Nadal’s coaching team at the end of 2017 in the hands of Carlos Moya. Carlos has always been a special person for Rafa, and his contributions in 2017 brought clear benefits for the Mallorcan that has stunned the tennis world after winning 2 slams. The Spaniard has also regained the top of the rankings with a sizeable lead over the rest of the pack.

Nothing will really change

During a recent interview with the TTdeporte, Moya explained that no significant changes will happen with Toni’s departure. Carlos commented

“There won’t be any hierarchy. There will be Francis Roig as well. Now I will follow him in Asia and next year the team will be the same one. There won’t be any change.

We are speaking about an experienced player who is 31 and who knows what he needs to do. He relies on us to provide him information.”

Talking about his special relationship with Rafa, Carlos commented

“I am aware of the luck that I got. It will be difficult to overcome on a personal level what I have lived with Nadal. He makes everything more special.”

After enjoying his time at the Laver Cup, Nadal is about to start the last stint of the season. Next week he will play in Beijing, then Shanghai, Basel, and Paris. He has an almost 2000 points lead of the world no.2 Roger Federer in the ATP rankings, and he is expected to end the season at the top.
