Djokovic congratulates Nadal and Medvedev after their US Open final

How Nole congratulated the 2 US Open finalists

Djokovic congratulating Nadal and Medvedev

Novak Djokovic is one of the most graceful players on tour also and especially in defeat. On Monday, the world no.1 didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate both Rafael Nadala and Daniel Medvedev for their fantastic fortnight in New York.

Djokovic’ injury issues

Novak was the hot favorite to win the Us Open this year. The Serbian sensation seemed to be back to his top form especially after he conquered the Wimbledon title following his impossible win over an inspired Roger Federer.

However, things started to go south for the world no.1 already in Cincinnati where he lost in the semifinal to Daniil Medvedev. Unfortunately, during the last slam of the year, the Serbian admitted that he was struggling for weeks with a problem to his left shoulder that was creating issues to his serve and backhand. Finally, Djokovic had to withdraw as early as in the 4th round when he was trailing 6-4 7-5 2-1 against Stan Wawrinka.

The world no.1 rank

Djokovic’s latest setback will most probably make him losing the world no.1 rank before the end of the year. In fact, the new US Open Champion, Rafael Nadal, is now leading strongly the Year to Date rankings with almost 2,000 points over Djokovic.

The congratulations

Nole was extremely nice in congratulating Rafa and Daniil with the following message on Twitter:

Congrats to Rafa for creating more history in our sport and showcasing amazing fighting spirit. And congrats to Daniil for an incredible summer on hardcourt in USA. You should be proud of yourself. Great things to come for you. Well done boys & thank you. for a fantastic match.”
