Why Andreescu loves Canada so much even if she is of Romanian origins

US Open champion Bianca Andreescu has been reveling in her success in 2019. The teenager has captured the Indian Wells WTA title, the Rogers Cup, and the US Open title all in 2019. As she quickly establishes herself as one of the most talented young stars in the game, Bianca has been reflecting on her journey so far and what it means to represent her country Canada. 

Mom and dad from Romania to Canada

Bianca was born on 16th June 2000. Her parent’s Nicu Andreescu and Maria Andreescu had moved to Canada from Romania in 1994 after completing their college studies. Her father Nicu has a BS in mechanical engineering. He secured a job in Canada and has praised the country for its warm welcome and hospitality towards immigrants. Bianca’s mother Maria also has a degree in Economics and an MBA in Financial Management. She works for an investment firm in Canada. Bianca once lived in Romania for a brief period with her mother before moving back to Canada. She took up tennis at a young age and joined Tennis Canada which has really helped her to in the transitions within her career to be the brilliant professional tennis player she is today.

Speaking on her love for Canada, Bianca expressed her appreciation for the love and acceptance she has experienced despite her Romanian roots. She has nothing but praise for her country and Tennis Canada for the role they have played in molding her into a complete tennis player.

Canada is such an amazing country. It’s so multi-cultural. I had no trouble growing up having Romanian parents whatsoever. That’s why I love my country so, so much. Tennis Canada, as well. I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done. I’ve been with them ever since I was 10 years old. The program they have in place, and had in place, as well, has been doing really well not only for me but for many other Canadian athletes. Without their help, I definitely wouldn’t be here.” 

Bianca has made history this year being the first Canadian female ever to win the Rogers Cup as well as the US Open title.

Bianca has established herself as a force to reckon with in Tennis. fans in Canada and Romania have also shown their support for the 19-year old star whose successes has shown that the world that talent needs only to be nurtured and encouraged and it will always shine through regardless of one’s origins. Bianca has had a successful 2019 and fans from both countries will hope that she can continue her fine form well into the future.

Ranked no.15, the Canadian played her last match on the 7th of September when she defeated Serena Williams 6-3 7-5 in the final in U.S. Open to win her 3rd career title.

This year the Canadian has a 43-4 win-loss record. Bianca Vanessa clinched 4 titles in 2019 in the Newport Beach, in Indian Wells, in Toronto and at the U.S. Open. The Canadian was the finalist in Auckland.
