Roger is on the roll in Halle.
Given the strenghts of both players on this fast court, Federer-Raonic could have been considered as the final here in Halle. The match was a very close encounter, but to be fair Raonic could cope with Federer only because of his immense service, otherwise Roger’s tennis was at least one category above than the Canadian’s. Milos blasted an incredible 25 aces in 17 service games, but as soon as the Swiss managed to “put the ball down for a rally”, the difference was clear. Eventually, the match was a huge service against everything else and everything else… won it!… It sounds fair.
As per the previous 2 matches, Raonic won the opener. Then Roger had an early break in the second set to lead 2-0 and win the second set 6-4. The decider was a boom-boom set that went straight to the tiebreak where the Canadian’s service did not work anymore to give to the Swiss the match.
Raonic was quite pleased after that match and he thinks that he can have a shot at Wimbledon to win many matches…. actually in his own words.. “all of them!”. That’s confidence.
Roger will play Youzhny in the semis. The Rissian defeated Stepanek 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
On the other side of the draw Berdych lost to Haas 6-4 3-6 7-6 to play an all German final with Kohlschreiber.
