Nadal’s US Open title wasn’t so special. UNCLE TONI

Rafael Nadal has won 2 slams in 2017: The Roland Garros and the French Open.

The French Open was extremely emotional for Rafa because it was the 10th time that the Spanish legend won that title. Uncle Toni was also caught in tears of joy soon after the King of Clay won “la Decima.”

The US Open was another story, and uncle Toni explained why.

Why this US Open wasn’t special.

The draw was marred by the absence of most of the top10 players with the notable absence of Djokovic, Murray, and Wawrinka. Federer wasn’t at the top to miss the showdown against Rafa in the semi-final, and even the rising star Sascha Zverev crashed as early as the 2nd round. The highest ranked player defeated by Nadal was Del Potro (no.28), and Rafa had an extremely comfortable final against Anderson after he defeated the South African 6-3 6-3 6-4.

“For me, it’s nothing special, different than the other times when he won a tournament of the Grand Slam. This tournament was different because we play against Dolgopolov, Rublev, good players but not the top.
I don’t want to say anything bad for our opponents, but this time some got injured before playing: Murray, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Nishikori, Raonic. And then Federer lose.

But I think Rafael has played well and was the best of the people who has played.”

That’s Uncle Toni… always straight to the point.
