Rafael Nadal won an incredibly emotional US Open final against Daniil Medvedev. The Spanish legend was in full control of the match after he was leading 7-5 6-3 3-2 (1-break-up). However, the Russian fought back furiously to bring the match to the decider.
Things didn’t end up there. The 19-slams champion earned a 5-2 and 2-breaks-up lead in the 5th, but once again Daniil refused to bow to break Rafa back (5-3) before holding his serve (5-4). Things got extremely complicated for the Mallorcan when he tried to serve out the match for the 2nd time since he faced a break point when he was 30-40 down. Eventually, Rafa managed to hold tight and conquer the following 3 points to clinch the coveted title finally.
The reaction of Nadal’s team
Rafa was not alone with his emotions as his team was extremely tense. It was fantastic to see the tension and reaction of his family soon after Rafa won the match point.
