What an achievement for American tennis!
Coco Vandeweghe and Madison Keys join Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens as the new US Open semi-finalists.
Coco Vandeweghe
In the quarters, Coco beats the world no.1 Karolina Pliskova in straight sets 7-6 (4) 6-3. The American had a 1-break-up lead in the 1st and the 2nd set (2-1 and 3-1), to squander that advantage in both sets (4-4 and 3-2), but eventually, she maintained her nerves to win the match in 1 hour and 34 minutes.
Madison Keys
Madison had a relatively easy task in the quarters after she defeated Kaia Kanepi 6-3 6-3 in just 68 minutes.
The last time that 3 Americans reached the semi-finals at the US Open was back in 1981.
