Rafael Nadal is getting better and better.
The Spaniard was absolutely no match for rising star Andrey Rublev that didn’t manage to play his best tennis in the first slam quarterfinal of his young career. The Russian was too error prone, and that is a death sentence when you play Rafael Nadal. The final result was a telling 6-1 6-2 6-2 for the Spanish Legend.

Rafa was elated not only for the outcome of the match, but also and especially for the fact that he has saved a lot of energy. Nadal commented
“It was a good match. Andrey was playing in his first quarter-final, and he played with more mistakes than usual. It’s an important victory for me, winning past two matches in straight sets is very good news for me. I’m very, very happy to be in the semi-finals again in New York. It’s very important to me, and I’m very excited to have this opportunity again.”
Rafa will play the semi-final against either Roger Federer or Juan Martin Del Potro.
