Muguruza concedes just 3 games in US Open 1st round

Garbine Muguruza confirms that she is one of the hottest players on tour right now. The Spaniard has backed up her triumph in Wimbledon with a prestigious title in Cincinnati, and now she astonishes with a fantastic 1st round win at the US Open after she defeated Varvara Lepchenko 6-0 6-3.

Garbine conquered the first set after just 21 minutes without any problem. In the second set, the Spaniard had a little set back in the 7th game after she “gave back” a break (from 4-2 to 4-3), but then she broke the American again in the 8th game (5-3) before clinching the match in just 63 minutes.

Garbine dropped just 10 points on his serve during the entire match.

Next vs. Duan

Garbine will face the world no.92 Ying-Ying Duan in the second round. They have never played each other; the Spaniard shouldn’t have many problems in progressing to the 3rd round.
