Federer confident to play the US Open

Roger Federer was having a fantastic run during the summer after he won Halle and Wimbledon and it seemed as he was ready to win both titles in Montreal and Cincinnati. Unfortunately, everything stopped during the final in Montreal against Sascha Zverev when Roger couldn’t really compete because of a problem with his back. Eventually, Roger had to withdraw also from Cincinnati, and there were some doubts about his participation at the US Open.

Yesterday, Roger’s agent said that he was optimistic about Federer’s chances to play and now even the Swiss confirms he is positive.

What Roger said

During a recent interview with a Swiss TV, Federer commented

“I am feeling better; it was a hard week, the back pain doesn’t just go away overnight. I was glad to get a break, be with the family and do exercises. I am walking normally again and have been on the court in the past 3 days. I am on schedule; a couple of days ago I didn’t know where I would be by this time, but as of now I am confident that everything will be ok.”

Ready for another triumphant run at the Flushing Meadows?
