Kyrgios: “Ferrer has always been kind with me”

David Ferrer is definitely one of the most hard-working players on the circuit that has earned the respect of all his colleagues with his die-hard attitude coupled with his very nice character.

The Spaniard has just lost in the Cincinnati semifinal against Nick Kyrgios, and the Australian wasn’t shy in disclosing how David has helped him in his (still young) career.

Ferrer has always been kind to me. KYRGIOS

During the post-match interview, Nick commented

“I played him [Ferrer] when I qualified for the US Open, and I think his coach met up with my coach. They kind of wrote down on a big sheet of paper what I had to improve on,

One of the things I know I’ll never forget on the sheet was ’Learn to suffer.’

That’s what David Ferrer said to Nick Kyrgios when I was eating KFC every day, pretty fat, not a great athlete. I was like ’I don’t know, this guy is crazy.’

Yeah, that’s one thing I did remember from the big sheet. Yeah, he’s always been a really kind guy to me.”

Nick is about to face Grigor Dimitrov in the Cincinnati final. There is a lot of “suffering” in there if the Australian wants to get this title.
