Muguruza reaches the final in Cincinnati

Garbine Muguruza reaches the final in Cincinnati in the best possible way after she defeated the world no.1 Karolina Pliskova 6-3 6-2.

Garbine was looking forward to backing up her fantastic Wimbledon title with some solid results, but she hasn’t managed to go beyond a semifinal (Toronto) in the following 2 tournaments. Garbine has now the opportunity to grab another prestigious title and also to get closer to the world no.1 rank.

The semifinal against Karolina Pliskova was one-way traffic with Garbine breaking her opponent 4 times without ever concede a single service game. The match ended after just 79 minutes with no thriller involved.

Precision was key. MUGURUZA

Soon after the match, Garbine was extremely happy with her performance and for the fact that she dismissed the world no.1 and the defending champion. Garbine commented

“Today I think I was very precise with my shots. I also played very well. I wanted just to be more aggressive, trying to take my shots, and not think a lot about her, because I know she played very aggressive, as well. I’m working hard on trying to face these aggressive opponents, so today I felt a little bit better.”

The final
