Dimitrov reaches the Cincinnati final

Grigor Dimitrov reaches his first final of an ATP1000 in Cincinnati!

The Bulgarian had to edge John Isner in an extremely tight semi-final that was decided with two tiebreaks. In the first set, Dimitrov had to save two crucial and consecutive break points in the 6th game (15-40) before he won the opening set. The second set went to a mammoth tiebreak that Grigor Dimitrov won at 10 after he saved a set point.

The final result was 7-6 (6) 7-6 (10) and the contest ended after 2 hours and 3 minutes.

Grigor was absolutely elated with his win to comment

“I think it’s a good step.It’s a good step. I have been on the tour for quite some time now, and I appreciate those moments. I’m starting to appreciate them even more.

Being able to compete in a final, it’s always a great feeling. No matter Masters 1000 or 250, it’s always something that you work for. It all comes down to that.”


The final vs. Kyrgios

Grigor will face Kyrgios in the final. The head to head is 1-0 for Dimitrov. Winning Cincinnati would be a fantastic stepping stone in his career.
