The match

Simona struggled at the beginning of the contest when she was 1 break down early in the opening set (1-2). Then the Romanian won 4 consecutive games (5-2) before conquering the first set (6-4). Halep seemed to be destined to win the second set without many problems when she captured a 4-1 lead, but eventually the affair went to the breaker after Jo managed to stage a strong comeback. Finally, it was Simona to be in charge again to clinch the breaker and win the match with a 6-4 7-6 (1) scoreline.
