Zverev dismisses Kyrgios in Montreal

Sascha Zverev proved on court that he is the one to beat in the #nextgen.  The German defeated Nick Kyrgios 6-4 6-3 in the Montreal 3rd round after breaking the Australian 3 times and without conceding a single service game. With the exception of 2 long service games in the first set, Sascha was always on top of it. The German gained the decisive break in the third game of the opener to win the first set 6-4. The Australian then imploded in the second part of the second set when he was broken twice.

Kyrgios still struggling

Nick has retired in all the previous 3 tournaments because of various physical issues, and he was still struggling against Zverev. Nick called for a trainer twice during the first saying he was struggling with a sharp pain.

It’s never easy against Kyrgios

After the match, Sascha commented

“I’m happy to be through. Obviously, against him, it’s not easy because he’s one of the biggest servers that we have. He plays with not a lot of rhythm.”

The quarters vs. Anderson

Sascha will now face Kevin Anderson in the quarters.  The German has beaten the South African last week in the Washington final 6-4 6-4. The total head to head is 3-0 for Sascha.
