Murray retires from Cincinnati to lose his world no.1 rank

Tough luck for Andy Murray that after pulling out from Montreal, he had to renounce also to compete in Cincinnati.

Andy is struggling with a hip injury that was critical for his demise in the Wimbledon quarters, and the Brit is really having problems to recover from that.

Not playing in Cincinnati where he was the defending champion means that he will definitely lose his world no.1 by the 21st of August. This doesn’t come as a surprise after a mediocre season for his standards, and Nadal is already 2 matches away from becoming the new world no.1 already in Montreal this week.

The communicate

Andy released the following communicate

“Unfortunately, I won’t be playing in Cincinnati as I continue my recovery. I always enjoy playing there, and I look forward to returning next year. I’m continuing to work hard on the court with the aim of being in New York.”

Not the season his was hoping for.
