Rafa and Nole had a completely different run at the current US Open. While the King of Clay is playing extremely well, the Serb had to withdraw in his match against Wawrinka because of a problem to his left shoulder. Unfortunately, Djokovic was booed when he left the court, and he replied to the fans with a sarcastic thumbs-up.

Djokovic didn’t deserve to be booed

After his match against Cilic, Rafa was asked about the treatment that Nole had from the local fans and if he deserved that. The Spanish legend replied:

“No, I really believe that he doesn’t deserve that, of course. I believe that he’s a super athlete and if he had to go, it’s because he was not able to continue at all. Because for him it was much more painful that that for anyone on the Arthur Ashe Stadium because he missed an opportunity to win another Grand Slam playing on one of his best surfaces on hard. (Also) coming after winning Wimbledon it would have been a good opportunity for him.”
