WORLD NO.1 BATTLE. Nadal inches from top spot after Murray retires from Montreal

Bad news for the British fans as Andy Murray had to retire from Montreal because of the hip injury that has hampered his performance in Wimbledon.

With Andy retiring, Rafa needs to reach the semi-finals to become the new world no.1 because the Spaniard is 285pts away from Andy and reaching the final 4 would give him 360pts. Both Rafa and Andy have no points to defend at the Rogers Cup.

The communicate

In a stern communicate, Murray commented

“I am sad to be missing the tournament in Montreal because I have many great memories from my time in Canada. I am doing everything I can to return as quickly as possible.”

It seems more and more that the world no.1 discussion will involve again Federer and Nadal.

It can’t be more vintage than that!
