Maria Sharapova had to endure some more misery in Stanford.
The Russian beauty was eager to come back to competitions after she took a prolonged break after Rome when she struggled with a left thigh injury. Unfortunately, Maria wasn’t able to compete in the second round in Stanford against Tsurenko because of a problem with her left arm.
The Statement from Maria
Sharapova released the following statement
“Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from today’s match.
Toward the end of Monday night’s match, I felt pain in my left forearm. After yesterday’s scan, the doctor has recommended I don’t risk further injury. Monday night’s crowd was so special, and I wish I could continue playing, but I have to make a preventative decision.”
Sharapova is currently ranked no.171. Let’s see if she can be fit for the US Open.
