Federer to play the Rogers Cup

Roger Federer doesn’t have a fantastic relationship with the Rogers Cup. The Swiss sensation hasn’t played the event since 2014 as he preferred to compete in Cincinnati that has more favorable conditions for him. This year it’s a bit different as Roger has the chances to regain an incredible world no.1 position after Djokovic retired and Murray is struggling with the results and his body. Therefore, the more Roger plays in the second part of the season, the more chances he has to be the new world no.1.

Roger has won the Rogers Cup “only twice” in Toronto in 2004 and 2006. The Rogers Cup will take place next week and the defending champion is Novak Djokovic that has already retired for the rest of the season.

The communicate

Roger released the following statement

“I’m happy to be coming back to Montreal, as I have not had the chance to play there for many years [since 2011]. This 2017 season has been very exciting, and I am really looking forward to being back on the court on the ATP Tour.”

Roger has no chances to regain the world no.1 place after Montreal because is 1,2-5 points away from Murray that has no points also to defend in Montreal, but a solid campaign in Canada will definitely help Roger in the Rankings.
