Siniakova wins another title in Bastad

Katerina Siniakova is rising fast.

The 21 years old from the Czech Republic has won her first WTA event back in January in Shenzhen where she defeated on the way big names such as Simona Halep and Jo Konta. Now Katerina repeats herself after winning the event in Bastad to clinch her second career title. The title arrived after Katerina defeated the former world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 6-4 in the final.

From Siniakova

1 year ago Katerina reached her maiden WTA final before losing to Laura Siegemund. This year she went 1 step further

“It’s really amazing for me,” Siniakova commented. “Last year was really good, and so I’m so happy that I came back because I couldn’t imagine a better week.

Caroline has had such a great season, and it’s so much pressure to play against you. I’m sorry I won! I was just enjoying the game even in the tough conditions.”

After this win, Siniakova climbs 17 places in the rankings to be the new world no. 39.
