Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard has officially started working with Francisco Roig, with their collaboration set to debut at the Indian Wells Masters 1000. The French player, known for his powerful serve and baseline strength, is aiming to refine his game and move closer to the top of the ATP rankings.
Roig’s experience and past success
Francisco Roig brings a wealth of experience to the partnership. He previously coached Matteo Berrettini, helping the Italian regain form after injury setbacks. Roig also spent many years working alongside Rafael Nadal, earning widespread respect in the tennis world for his tactical knowledge and ability to guide players through demanding stages of their careers.
Mpetshi Perricard’s potential and goals
At just 20 years old, Mpetshi Perricard has already shown promise, particularly on faster surfaces where his serve and power give him an edge. However, analysts agree that he must develop a more complete game to consistently challenge the best players. Roig’s arrival is seen as a strategic move to accelerate that growth. “I know I have the weapons to compete, but I need to keep improving every part of my game,” he said earlier this season, highlighting his determination to evolve.
Roig has also recently coached Emma Raducanu, though their partnership ended earlier in 2026 after unsatisfactory results. The collaboration with Mpetshi Perricard now comes at a crucial time, as the Frenchman looks to establish himself among the rising stars of the ATP. With Roig’s guidance and his own ambition, he hopes to make significant strides in 2026 and beyond.
