Isner wins the title in Newport!

John Isner wins the Newport title without dropping a single set.

The American no.2 defeated Matthew Ebden 6-4 7-6 (4) without conceding a single break point on the way. This is Isner 11th career title, the 3rd in Newport, the 1st of this season. Like Ferrer in Bastad, it has been two years since the American was able to win a title (last time it was in Atlanta in 2015).

It was a perfect week. ISNER

Soon after winning the tournament, John commented

“It’s hard to win a tournament. It’s no small feat to come out here and be the last man standing. I’m very happy about that.

It’s been two years since I won a tournament, so I had that weighing on my mind. I’m very happy with how I played all week. It was a perfect week, and I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Now ranked no.21, John is expected to break back in the top20 after this tournament.
