John Isner is in the Newport semi-final after a smooth with in the quarters against his compatriot Denis Novikov.

The match was resolved with 1 break per set before John won 6-4 6-4 in 73 minutes.

Soon after the match, John commented

“Just one of those matches on a surface like this, with two pretty good servers, that’s how it can go; you just get one break, and you try to hold onto it. That’s what I did.

I felt like in the second set I could have extended it to a two-break lead but a lot of times one break is all I need so I’m happy to get off the court in pretty quick fashion so I’ll be ready to go tomorrow.”

Next vs. Fratangelo

John will play Bjorn Fratangelo in the final-4. They have never played each other so far.

In the other side of the draw, Ebden will take on Godowsky that has upset the defending champion Karlovic in the quarters.
