GOD-LIKE Federer gives a tennis lesson to Raonic

Roger Federer is closer and closer to win his 8th Wimbledon.

The Swiss sensation had an impressing quarter against Milos Raonic to defeat the Canadian in straight sets after giving a proper “tennis lesson.”

The Match

Milos sent an ominous message to Roger in the very first game when he held the serve at love, but eventually, that was it! From that moment on the Swiss had no problems in making contact with Raonic’s serve to get a break point in the 3rd game (2-1 he didn’t manage to convert that) and to conquer the Canadian’s serve in the 5th game (3-2) before winning the opener 6-4.

The second set was a walk in the park for the Maestro that dropped just 3 points in the entire set on his serve before breaking Raonic twice.

Finally, in the third set we had a sort of battle especially when Federer had some doubts on his serve in the 8th game, but eventually, Roger saved 3 break points without many problems. The Swiss was exceptional in the following breaker when he recovered a 0-3 deficit by winning 5 consecutive points playing a tennis out of this world. Finally, Roger clinched the tie-break to conquer this match with a 6-4 6-2 7-6 (4) scoreline.

Why Federer had such an easy match

Roger took advantage of a combination of two factors.

The most important factor was that Raonic played really poorly, and he had absolutely no weapons. Roger was able to neutralize his serve without any problems; Raonic’s inside-out forehand wasn’t working at all because of a very slow footwork; Milos was incredibly clumsy at the net. Therefore, if you do not have the serve, the forehand, and the volley, you do not have many chances in a Wimbledon quarter, especially against Roger Federer.

The second factor was that besides the fact that Roger was in great shape, the Maestro got full advantage of Milos’ weaknesses and he was in complete control of his own emotions. Federer had only a moment of doubts in the 8th game of the third set, but he was able to get past that situation in style also because he had a strong lead (he was 2 sets up).

I saw things very well. FEDERER

Roger commented

“I saw things very well. That helped me returning his serve as well. From the baseline, I felt like I had the upper hand, which wasn’t necessarily the case last year, which helped me to stay more calm.”

The semis vs. Berdych

Roger will play the semi-final against Tomas Berdych that got to the final 4 after Djokovic retired in the quarters.

The head to head is 16-8 for Roger 12-1 on grass. Roger has beaten Tomas in their last 7 encounters and the last time that the Czech has beaten Federer was back in 2013.
