This edition of the US Open may go down as one of the most controversial in its history for some altercations of top players against the fans (and no, we are not talking yet about Kyrgios).
I’ll find you. NOVAK DJOKOVIC
A nervous Novak Djokovic stopped his training to confront and threaten fan in what was an episode that doesn’t relate with his gracious character. Later on, the Serbian sensation laughed the episode off saying that he wanted just buy a drink to “his friend.”
The towel, the middle finger, the crowd
Something incredible happened to the world no.5 during his match against Feliciano Lopez. Daniil was struggling with his body after he played so much tennis during his great North American summer after he reached the finals in Washington and Montreal before triumphing in Cincinnati. The crowd was rooting for the Spanish veteran, and at a certain point, Daniil had an uncharacteristic (bad) gesture when he snatched the towel from the hands of a ball boy. That wasn’t a good move for the Russian. First and more important, because you should never treat a person like this; second, because this the “best” way to attract a negative reaction from the crown.
Medvedev got a violation, and after being booed by the crowd, he showed the mid-finger.

#Medvedev whacks a towel out of a ballboy’s hand, throws his racket cross court, yells at the umpire & flicks off the crowd—yet umpire only gives him an unsportsmanlike code violation. What about multiple point penalties? That’s what umpire gave Serena last year. Why? #USOpen pic.twitter.com/fPNsqcjjiT

Medvedev trolling the crowd
Eventually, Daniil won the match after beating the Spaniard 7-6 (1) 4-6 7-6 (7) 6-4. Medvedev trolled the crowd in the post-match interview to say:
“First of all I can say thank you all, guys, because your energy tonight gave me the win. Because if you were not here, guys, I would probably lose the match, because I was so tired. I was cramping yesterday.
It was so tough for me to play. So I want all of you to know, when you sleep tonight: I won because of you. Again, the only thing I can say is the energy you’re giving me right now, guys, I think it will be enough for my five next matches. The more you will do this, the more I will win for you guys.”
