Jim Courier explains why Djokovic's injury is a big deal

Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is having a somewhat tormented run at this US Open. The Serbian sensation managed to win his first 3 rounds in straight sets, but he is battling with a problem to his left shoulder that is hampering his motion when serving and on his backhand, probably his most trusted stroke.

However, the world no.1 kept on finding the solution against his opponents even if he is struggling.

This can be a big blow for Djokovic’s US OPEN bid

Former world no.1 a renowned opinionist and commentator Jim Courier thinks that Djokovic’s problem can be a huge issue for him. Talking on Tennis Channel, the American commented:

“It’s affecting his serve, not just his backhand. That’s the arm he uses to toss so perhaps the rhythm is off. He only served 51 percent in play. He’s usually a mid-60s percentile serve.

That’s a big deal so if he’s not able to solve this. He said in his post-match presser that he’s hoping with treatment and the right medical advice that he’ll be able to limit the pain, if not eliminate it.

But he definitely was in a lot of discomfort in the match and that should be providing a lot of comfort for players in his section of the draw.”

Nole’s path to glory will be extremely tough. In fact, on his projected path he has Stan Wawrinka, Daniil Medvedev, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. Facing these competitors is tough in every condition, beating all of them with a rough injury is almost impossible.

However, Novak has already done the impossible in his career…
