Murray tames mad Paire

Andy Murray was well aware that his 4th round match would have been rather unconventional… and he got that 100%.

The world no.1 was facing Benoit Paire that is well known for his talent and his crazy shot-making that is so unpredictable to make things tricky for every player on tour.

Andy didn’t look to be at his very best at the beginning of the match to be broken twice in the first 3 service games. Then, Murray took full advantage of the uncharacteristic errors of his opponent to win the first set at the breaker. Eventually, Andy went on conquering the match taking full advantage of 44 unforced errors from Paire and some other crazy shots that brought the Frenchman nowhere. Murray won 7-6 (1) 6-4 6-4.

Best match so far. MURRAY

Andy was pleased with his performance, and he is also quite happy with his overall condition.

The Briton commented

“I thought I played well today, apart from a couple of sloppy service games in the first set. That’s by far the best I have hit it this week. He’s not an easy guy to play – tactics aren’t easy against him.

Two weeks ago, I was resting and a bit concerned, it was frustrating. But I have managed it well and have played some good stuff. I’m doing well and hopefully will keep it up.”

Next vs. Querrey

Andy will play the quarters against Sam Querrey. The head to head is 7-1 for Andy, 2-0 on grass. Andy has won 19 sets of 21 against the American.
