Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils are probably among the sweetest couples in the tennis world right now. The Ukrainian female tennis star, who currently ranks No. 5, has become more open about her relationship with Monfils with the press. This gives their adoring fans more glimpses of the love that is going on with the two tennis players.

After a relatively successful run in Wimbledon last month where she reached the semifinal rounds, Svitolina and Monfils went to Ukraine together. She says that Monfils liked the country, which meant a lot to her because it was the country where she was born. Of all the places that they went through Monfils is said to be happy with their visits to Odessa and Kiev. He was also said to be impressed with Ukrainian food.
Svitolina also shared how her relationship with Monfils started. She said that before they started going out, she already knew Monfils but they never really knew each other deeply. She was then in a different relationship as well.
They started dating after a trip in Paris, where they coincidentally met each other. She posted a photo on Instagram about a celebration she was having with friends and Monfils texted her to meet up.
Svitolina has also confessed that even though she loves Monfils, there are some complications in their relationship sometimes. She says that if she dated someone who is not a professional tennis player, it would have given her some time to not think about anything connected to tennis.
Despite these issues, the two still manage to find time for each other. They sometimes try to find a free day, where they just hang out and tour a city. She, however, said that they do not appreciate the unwarranted press attention that they are receiving. While the media attention is part of their jobs, they still want to make sure that they have some degree of privacy. This is why she does not appreciate that some of their photos together were published without consent.

In more recent Svitolina news, the Ukrainian player successfully qualified for the third round of the 2019 U.S. Open as she wins over Venus Williams with a 6-4 6-4 score. It was a failed forehand from Williams that secured the win for Svitolina, who was neck-and-neck with her opponent up to that point. Svitolina will battle fellow Swedish player Dayana Yastremska in the next round.
