Pliskova upset by Rybarikova

Karolina Pliskova had huge hopes for her Wimbledon campaign especially after winning the tournament in Eastbourne. The world no.3 also had a clear shot at conquering the very top of the rankings after Wimbledon, but she folded in the 2nd round against Magdalena Rybarikova after she was leading 1 set and one break up (7-5 3-2). The final score was 3-6 7-5 6-2.

After this match, it will be a contest between Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep for the world no.1 rank, at least in the next ten days.

“She’s one of the best players right now and her results are very good. Beating her here is so good. I believed my game could still be very good; I was practicing well. But still, I wasn’t competing with players like Karolina. I couldn’t know how I’d play a match like today.”
