Karolina Pliskova had huge hopes for her Wimbledon campaign especially after winning the tournament in Eastbourne. The world no.3 also had a clear shot at conquering the very top of the rankings after Wimbledon, but she folded in the 2^nd round against Magdalena Rybarikova after she was leading 1 set and one break up (7-5 3-2). The final score was 3-6 7-5 6-2.

After this match, it will be a contest between Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep for the world no.1 rank, at least in the next ten days.
