If you are looking for a “Cinderella story” this year in Wimbledon, you got it!
Sebastian Ofner from Austria started to play seriously only after he finished his high school two years ago.
Then Austrian began to play at challenger level. He has managed to qualify for the Wimbledon main draw after winning an epic 7-6 (4) 3-6 10-8 in the first round of the qualifications against Coppejans before recovering a 0-2 sets deficit in the last round of the qualifications against Clarke (2-6 6-7 (9) 6-4 6-4 6-1.
In the main draw, Sebastian surprised again after he defeated the Brazilian no.1 Thomaz Bellucci in the first round 6-2 6-3 6-2. On Thursday, the Austrian defeated the American no.1 Jock Sock 6-3 6-4 3-6 2-6 6-2.
Sebastian will now face the German no.1 Alexander Zverev in the third round. Is improbable he will make, but what a run from the world no.216.
What a moment…
