Roger Federer is arguably the best and most popular tennis player in the world of all times. He recently clinched the 1,200th win of his career. He has won 20 Grand Slams till now and still hoping to win more. Despite his achievements on the court, the popular tennis player maintains that it is not the trophies which are the biggest achievement of his life, but the biggest win of his life is his beautiful wife, Mirka Federer.

The Swiss champ married Mirka in the year 2009. Since they met, Mirka has been a constant companion of Federer. She loves to be with her husband when he is playing his important matches. Recently when Federer played against Djokovic in the finals of the Wimbledon, the Federer family was boarding in a house very close to the Centre Court. Federer loves the support of his family and his wife and considers them as his biggest source of strength.

The couple has 2 sets of beautiful twins. Identical twin girls Myla Rose and Charlene Riva born in 2009. Twin boys Leo and Lennard were born in the year 2014.

Who is Mirka?

Mirka was born in Slovakia but her father shifted to Switzerland when she was just 2 years. At 9 year of age, her father took her to a tennis tournament where she met the great Martina Navratilova. She encouraged the 9-year-old Mirka to play tennis. She heeded to the advice of the legend and worked hard to become a professional tennis player. Mirka achieved a high career rank of 76 in the year 2001. Though Mirka was a top 100 tennis player, she had to leave playing professional tennis due to foot injury.

Does Mirka go to all matches of Roger Federer?

Mirka definitely tries to be present wherever Federer plays but owing to children and their issues, she had to miss many matches. Federer has always prioritized his family and is with them whenever possible though he is mostly away from his native Switzerland due to his playing duties across the world.

Federer and Mirka met for the first time at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. At that time Mirka was engaged to a rich Arab, but she soon started dating Federer.

Federer had once revealed that he and his wife had their first kiss on the last day of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. He had said:

“We were both playing for Switzerland in tennis, and then we spent two weeks together in those dorms. We were together with the wrestlers and all the other cool athletes. I guess over the two weeks; we built up some chemistry.”

Federer was a teenager at that time (Mirka is a few years older than Federer), it was a little awkward for him to kiss Mirka, but he pretended to be confident. He says:

“She told me I was so young when she kissed me. I tried to tell her I was almost 18-and-a-half. I tried to sneak in a quarter year.”

Federer recalls that they were together for two weeks and were with the wrestlers and other athletes. He guesses that it was perhaps two full weeks of togetherness that created some sort of chemistry between him and Mirka. Since Federer has been a person of shy nature, he could only express his love after being egged on by a wrestler.
