Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer are the top favorites in the male categories of the U.S. Open. Not only do these players constitute the top three people in the world, but they are also among the icons that revitalized public interest in the sport. The questions now in everyone’s minds are who will win and how much they will take home.

PRIZE MONEY. What might be up for grabs for Nadal, Federer and Djokovic in the U.S. Open 2019?

As far as the Grand Slam tournaments are concerned, the U.S. Open 2019 has the highest prize money ever at $3.85 million for the singles champion. This represents an increase of $100,000 from last year’s prize sum. The increase is largely attributed to the fact that the U.S. Open is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The U.S. Open will be giving out a total of $$57.2 million to the qualifying players. The runner-up of the tournament will receive $1.85 million and the others players losing in the 1st round can take home as low as $58,000. This is the second year that the tournament will be implementing the prize sum to the players.

Right now, the Big Three are the favorites to take home the prize money, partly due to their track record. With their dominance in previous Grand Slam events, it is reasonable to assume that there is a good chance that one of them will win this year. This means that Nadal, Federer and Djokovic – collectively known by some as the Big Three – could add to their respective prize money tally.

While the prize money will certainly be a sweet reward for a good performance in the U.S. Open 2019, the endorsements that could result from an outstanding showing in the tournament will add more cash in the bank accounts of these players. The Big Three earned a collective $142 million in endorsements this year, which will increase further if one of them gets the title. These three superstars are also one of the richest sportspersons in the world. Notably,  Federer, Djokovic and Nadal have a net worth of $450, $220 and $180 million.

Federer, Djokovic and Nadal’s advantage

In related news, Federer has a theory why the younger generation of tennis players entering the Grand Slams and Masters tournaments is having a difficulty defeating him, Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray. He credits the fact that these four players have improved their health for their dominance. This is especially true for Djokovic and Nadal, who both have a tennis rivalry to live up to even though they are respectful of each other off the court.
