As far as Roger Federer news goes, there are probably only a few more surprising things than the fact that he enjoys caravanning. The Swiss tennis star, considered a living legend, confessed that caravanning became a good activity for him after a rather Wimbledon final.

Roger Federer and his family on holiday

Federer has said that a caravanning holiday that he did with his wife Mirka and kids helped him properly prepare for the U.S. Open. According to the BBC, the entire family drove around the stunning countryside scenes in Switzerland, which gave him time to properly bond with everyone.

It especially helped him process his Wimbledon loss to fellow tennis Novak Djokovic. During their caravanning trip, Federer admitted that he doubted himself as a player and kept having flashbacks of what he could have done. The holiday helped him put things under perspective, which he thinks will assist him in performing better in the U.S. Open.

Since he lost to the Serbian player, he has only played once in the Cincinnati Masters earlier this month. He experienced his quickest elimination in a tournament in 16 years there at the hands of Russian player Andrey Rublev.

His early elimination at the Cincinnati will hopefully bear fruit as he immediately went into training for the U.S. Open. He has been seen on court with German player Alexander Zverev. Sascha, who said he idolizes Federer, is also in New York City early to acclimatize to the weather in the Big Apple.

This was also why Federer went to New York a week early as it is said that the hot and humid weather conditions there hampered his chances last year.

Roger Federer in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics?

In other Roger Federer news, the current world No. 3 is still tightlipped on whether he will be participating in the Olympics next year. When asked whether he has any plans to go on a trip to Japan soon, he said that he wants to play in the country but he has not made any assurance that it will be at an Olympic event.

There is, however, a good chance that Federer will indeed go to Japan next year. He is under contract with Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo. He might as well take advantage of that. For him to qualify for the Olympics, however, he needs to participate in a Davis Cup, which he has not joined in four years.
