Federer to play the 2018 Hopman Cup

Roger Federer has started sensational 2017 by warming up at the Hopman Cup, and that worked pretty well for the Swiss that soon after surprised the world by winning the Australian Open. Roger is eager to repeat the experience, and he has also committed to play the 2018 edition.

Why Federer agreed to play in 2018

Roger released the following statement

“I’m very happy to be coming back) because I had the best time on and off the court,” said the world number five in a statement issued by tournament organizers.

The fans were absolutely amazing; there were I think about 6 000 people at my first practice which I couldn’t believe, it was almost surreal walking into the stadium.”

Roger will partner once again with Belinda Bencic that is also extremely happy to be back. Belinda commented

“The Hopman Cup was amazing for me earlier this year. Playing with Roger was obviously a dream come true and I learned so much from him during that week on and off court.”

Last year Roger and Belinda reached the semifinals in Perth before losing to Team France (Gasquet/Mladenovic) that eventually won the whole thing.
